New vocabulary - Google to the rescue!

We read a story called ‘A Brave Bear’ which led to a chat about what real bears can do.

We found some deer to go with our story, and soon learned that Daddy Deer was a stag, Mummy Deer was a doe and a Baby Deer was a fawn.

And then…. one of the children asked what a Daddy Bear was called?…

Lots of the children were very animated talking about fireworks they had seen. Bang was our favourite description!

Making tracks

We have been very busy outdoors using the cars and large tubes. We love exploring how to make the cars go fast. we put paint in the tubes to see what happened. The wiggly paint made some funny tracks.

Pumpkin soup

We had to chop the pumpkin, and grate some carrot. Our soup was yummy, why not try to make some at home.

Parent Workshop

Bubble tennis anyone?

Bubble tennis? We had some bubble fun this week making our own bubble blowers. We spent ages chasing and popping bubbles… some of us even went on a bubble hunt! We now know it’s best to blow bubbles outside when it’s a bit windy!

Messy play

We spent ages having some good ‘clean’ fun, grating soap, mixing it with water and whisking it before getting our hands in and creating masses of foam! Who knew that Mrs Brown was really getting us to practise lots of different fine motor skills.

Storytellers

We love the book “There are no cats in this book” in Nursery.

Andre, Moonpie and Tiny were invited to tea with Daddy, Mummy and Baby Bear by one of our Nursery children. Gingerbread people and currant buns were on the menu, and an amazing original story was created by a Nursery star!

A few of our favourite things…

Our favourite song in Nursery ‘5 currant bun’s led to baking buns and currant buns. But then Lucas wondered if the currant buns would run away like the gingerbread man did. We ate our currant buns very quickly!

But guess what? The small gingerbread man ran away!

A very special visitor

We’ve already had a very special visitor this term, a barn owl called Merlin.

She is just 10 months old, and is getting used to large groups. we had lots of good questions to ask. And who knew that barn owls don’t twit-a woo?
